Exploding tummies

The long-awaited, much-anticipated day for Sayang & I to have our dinner in Cafe Vienna finally happened... to our disbelief.

Having postponed the treat countless times over a period of 5 months, Sayang smsed me this morning. Message read "Sayang, we really going dinner tonight?" Hahaha! =)

Both of us were supposed to fast. But Intan told me to have lunch together and offered a curry puff. Sayang ended up having Nasi Lemak for breakfast & Delifrance meal for lunch. Ten minutes past 6pm, I left the office. We met up in Aljunied MRT station and arrived there @ 7pm.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there. Each time we left the table to refill our plates, each of us used 2 plates! Not counting the cups & glasses of warm water & hot tea...

1st round - we attacked the meat, poultry & seafood. There were lamb, chicken, oyster & prawn dishes including kebab, popiah and yellow rice. Sayang was still lingering around the buffet corner despite having filled up the 2nd plate. Slowly I nudged Sayang to our table. "We have the time for all that later. Eat first."

2nd round - salads. I'm no veggie lover no matter how nutritious or delicious vegetables can be. Thankfully their salads were not purely vegetarian. Prawn salad & chicken salad went to my plate with generous amounts of sunflower seeds & almonds. Took some chicken rolls and vegetarian duck (mock duck) too. Decided not to try the broths & soups. "Eh Sayang, how come we are eating salads now? Shouldn't this be the first?" "Never mind la. Buffet is not for diet-conscious peeps."

3rd round - sushi & fresh seafood. Big fresh prawns filled our plates. Variety of sushi & fresh salmon, soy sauce but no wasabi. Sayang is not too fond of its taste. As for me, I don't like the idea of having my nose irritated & get a combo sneeze. Not while I'm eating at least.

4th round - pastries. Mini eclairs, mini brownies, chocolate pudding, many cake slices and not forgetting the desirable Bread & Butter pudding. I couldn't help smiling when I saw the number of plates on the table. 4 plates of pastries... Lady sitting across me kept looking at us. Not the slightest bit bothered.

5th round - desserts & fruits. Ripe big yellow bananas, grapes and Chocolate Fondue!

I had a good look at myself in the mirror to see juz how much my tummy has expanded since dinner. That's it. Must fast tomorrow. Before we had dinner, Sayang asked "If dinner is good, can we have 10 treats for 10 months?" When we finally left, it had changed to "At this rate, once a year is enough." Hahahahaha! =P

Studio Photos

Ain & Jeff came this afternoon and conveniently forgot to bring their album of studio photo shots. Sigh...

Much later they went to Ten Mile Junction for some grocery shopping before my parents drove them home. Dad came back with 2 photo albums for us to view. Heehee =)

Ain had emailed the photos to us some time back. But my account bounced. Hate those spams for filling up my available space!

Friday Good...

Yesterday I rode the train from office, fell asleep and landed up in Boon Lay. Entered Jurong Point and bought Famous Amos cookies. Yummmy!

I'm in sleep mode. Happy tongue-rolling...

The butter Peter bought was bitter,
So Peter Bought A better butter,
To make the bitter butter better.

Betty Botter had some butter,
But, she said, "this butter's bitter.
If I bake this bitter butter,
it would make my batter bitter.
But a bit of better butter
that would make my batter better.

So she bought a bit of butter,
better than her bitter butter,
And she baked it in her batter,
and the batter was not bitter.
So 'twas better Betty Botter
bought a bit of better butter.

Had Soar seen See's saw before See sawed Soar's seesaw,

So See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw.
But it was sad to see Soar so sore
Just because See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw!

1 BBQ coming up...

Someone suggested having steamboat somewhere in January... before we got to know that Pakcik had reservist. By the time he was back, February came. Now it's March and still no steamboat.

The whole geng is busy busy busy with work. In the end we communicated via emails, MSN & smses to plan for this upcoming BBQ. Yay! I'm definitely excited & looking forward to it.

Most importantly: confirmation of BBQ pit. Once it's struck off the list, I will start worrying about food.

Demise

My uncle's 2nd wife passed away due to breast cancer. To Nurul & Hakim, my condolences. Personally I do not know her well. I came home from work last night to be told that she was in hospital. My family did not get to pay her a visit.

It's about your SAFETY

I made a promise to give Sayang a treat the day I got my new job. Well, that was 5 months ago... and we have yet to enjoy a great dinner. We have postponed countless times due to unforeseen & unexpected circumstances, due to other personal commitments, and hahaha if this goes on for another month, we may be just in time for my next review.

On the other hand, entire office left promptly @ 6.30pm this evening. Took 2 cabs to EC park to have our dinner. I suppose it's a good thing that all of us are foodie people. Neo can't take spicy food but amazingly it didn't stop him from having 2 servings of rice. Intan had the smallest rice serving. But she tasted every single dish served including Chendol & Kueh Ondeh2. The only setback was the food itself. 2nd plate of Kangkong was too oily, fish was not fried properly and Tahu Telor was not usually nice.

After dinner, Chandra & Neo suggested bowling. Intan & Margaret declined, wanting to head home. Fui Ling declined, wanting to head to the beach. Alone. All of us jumped at her reply. What's with her?! Had she carried on, I would have abandoned my intention to bowl and accompanied her instead. But Margaret was even more insistent that Fui Ling goes home. And home she went. Heehee =)

Chandra, Neo & I played 2 games of bowling. So so long since I played bowling, my skills are rusty! The bowling ball keeps swerving from mid-lane to the left... I had the most number of gutter balls. Sheesh!

Holy Day

Out of the blue, Chandra suggested that entire office have dinner together after work. Perhaps he's missing our good old lunch hours? Heehee =) Fui Ling right away started jumping like a monkey. The rest of us were quick to agree.

Seeing that all of us are staying all over Singapore & the high possibilities of 2 of us working on Friday nights, we settled on having dinner on Monday instead. That alone was enough to put a smile on our faces. Chandra went a step further. He disappeared into our pantry and served drinks for all of us! He prepared Pink Guava smoothies for Intan & Neo, Pineapple smoothies for Margaret, Fui Ling & I. What got into him? No idea!

Margaret said Chandra is doing all this because of Intan. Before she was around, we never experienced such treatments. Heehee!

Perhaps it's the effect of pre-weekends. As Chandra mentioned "Saturdays, Sundays are holidays. Fridays are Holy Days." Hmmm... maybe.

Diamonds...

Another new staff started work in our office today. New for them... not for me. Heehee =) With 6 of us in the office, place is suddenly crowded.

Office used to go lunch together. It was something that all of us looked forward to after half a day of work. Pace can be nerve-wrecking at times and unintentionally we stress each other over minute stuffs. Lunch is the time when we clarify & apologise for our misbehaviours once and for all - bonding time. Without fail, all of us come back from lunch happier and in better state of mind (or half-crazy).

Recently, our lunch hours were split up. Margaret & I can no longer have lunch together... and I've not had lunch with anyone else other than Intan. Entire arrangement appears to be clique-ish, rather unsettling. The stubborn side of me refuses to accept whatever logic, rhyme or reason about this. But as usual, I'm just keeping mum.

This afternoon, Fui Ling reached her breaking point. Dunno when mine will come. Patience, stretch! =P
