Countdown to 2004

Many of my colleagues have taken off days for today & tomorrow. I ended up doing OT and working till 9pm. Those working have decided to take the MRT no matter come what may.

My only worry: unlike Xmas eve, not many patients got discharged today. Bothers me quite a bit because of the low manpower we are having tomorrow. I told my team leader about it and he too foresees a problem tomorrow.

Until then, HAPPY NEW YEAR! It's 2004!!!

Chocolates, candies, holiday!!!

Got a box of chocolate from the operations department, more chocolates & candies from my team leader. It's Xmas eve and luckily work ends at 4.30pm for me. Town is gonna be busy tonight... has been for the past several nights anyway. Unfortunately, bus 190 passes through Orchard - with me fast asleep nowadays. Imagine my surprise when I saw the Xmas decorations one night, while with Makcik & Pakcik in the car! Hahahah =)

Anyway Minah & I decided to meet up for dinner @ Anatolia Restaurant, away from the hustle bustle and traffics of all sorts. Spent time eating, talking and listening to the songs played. The place itself was like a world of its own. During our conversation, Minah explained her side of story over what actually happened at Makcik's house during our Raya outing. A clearer picture, wider perspective, better... get over it. I would have loved to stay longer but had to remind ourselves that it's still Xmas eve... leave for home now or reached home midnight. So we left at 9.30pm.

Raya Outing with the gang

As luck would have it, my off days fall on weekends! This year's Raya outing with my bang gang was unlike any other (you will see why...)

For the first time, Pakcik was actually called back for reservist. His 'P.O.W' treatment ended on the 18th hence the delay of our Raya outing. The time taken to inform everyone else was also another factor. But of late, I feel that the group has segmented. Wasn't surprise when my mother and even Umi commented on the shrinking group. This year... only 7 of us could make it - Makcik, Pakcik, Minah, Wak, Man, Mazni & me.

1st house - mine. They were supposed to arrive at 11.30am. First visitor was Minah who arrived at 11.40am. Poor fren had to wait 1 1/2 hr before the rest of the gang came. Hahaha... she even managed to watch 1/3 of Koi Mil Gaya! Had I started it from the minute she came, she would have gotten 1/2 the story.

2nd house - Man. He had sup tulang served for lunch. Pakcik was the only one who threw all caution to the wind and devoured the 2 pots of tulangs served. Last year, he sprayed red sup tulang gravy onto my Raya baju kurung & tudung. This year, I wore black and sat further away from him. Next year, I will give Pakcik a bib. Kihkihkih...

3rd house - Minah. By this time, Pakcik & Makcik left to fetch cousins from immigration checkpoint. Man, Mazni & Wak went to attend a wedding reception. The plan was to meet again at Minah's house by 4.30pm. So in the meantime, I played PS2 games with Haikal, ate chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream topping and watched 'Albela' on Vasantham Central. By 4.30pm, Man, Mazni & Wak arrived. Pakcik & Makcik however got stranded.

4th house - Wak. We arrived at his house close to Maghrib. Pakcik & Makcik arrived some time later. Took lots and lots of photos at his house (the pros of using digicams).

5th house - Pakcik. Heavy rains expected at the northern side of Singapore. Opps... wrong commentary. Well, it was definitely raining. Luckily we were travelling by cars. Ibu was cooking when we arrived. We were served food in every house and most of us were already full. But surprisingly we finished the mutton chop to the last bit. Hahhaah foodie people! Perhaps that explains why Man visited the gents frequently. Then again, so did the ladies!

6th house - Makcik. Last house finally. We had brought karaoke vcds from Wak's house but not much singing happened. We spent the time sitting at the dining table eating spaghetti (yes! unbelievable really), brownies & ice-cream and talking. This time round, the 'singers' decided to have a 'confession' session ala Oprah Winfrey show. For the sake of privacy, I shall discontinue. My only concern: my wish to have a Raya picture taken with Md Idris came true!!! Tummies full to hearts' content, night getting darker and our eyes getting heavier... we bid adieu a quarter to midnite.

At the end of the day, it occured to me that while previously, we went out till midnite because we had 10 - 12 houses to visit, even with lesser houses this year, the time spent remains unchanged. Amazing huh? Definitely wouldn't mind if the same group of people were to go Raya visiting again in future. Than to wait for uncertain responses in vain. =) I do have some requests too:

1) No gatecrashers... if you intend to change partners before the next Raya outing. Believe me, it's tiring getting acquainted to people only to start the cycle all over again with someone new.

2) No more confessions. I tolerated it once. Period.

Back to work...

Having lost touch with work for 5 days, I came to work this week like a new staff. Thankfully there wasn't any new policies implemented... or I would be completely lost!

I'm still coughing now and then. My voice is hoarse thanx to the sore throat. But I have no more lozenges to suck. Stinky doc gave only 8 tablets to be eaten 3 times a day!

Leaking faucet (my nose) has stopped too though I have blocked nose every morning now. Luckily it clears once I have taken a shower.

As for my cough, well at least it's not dry anymore (AMMIINN!!). That was the main reason why my throat started hurting. The sound of my cough now is iirrkk... like one big load of thick phelgm stuck at my voicebox. Sigh...

Raya Visiting once again... =)

Yep! Now that my parents are back, and my sick is better, we are going to JB! Uncle staying there and doing open house today.

The batteries of my digicam are being charged, passport filled, only waiting for my Dad to come back from his meeting (on a Sunday?! yep!)... then I'm getting ready and we will be gone.

Ok gotta go, gotta go!

AAaahhh choo

Browsing thru makcik's webbie and came across this test again... the kind of tests & nonsense she does. Really wonder what she does in office. Hahahahahh

Congratulations! You are the Modern style! Well your style says it all- you are modern, sophisticated and intelligent!
Modern

What is your style of 'hijab'? (for ladies only)
brought to you by Quizilla

This is another test I did... courtesy from Makcik again. So to sum it all, I'm supposed to be a modern hijab woman who has winter season characters? Hahahahha... ooo my throat hurts. =(

Season = Winter
You're Most Like The Season Winter ...

You're often depicted as the cold, distant season.
But you're incredibly intelligent, mature and
Independant. You have an air of power around
you - and that can sometimes scare people off.
You're complex, and get hurt easily - so you
rarely let people in if you can help it. You
can be somewhat of a loner, but just as easily
you could be the leader of many. You Tend to be
negative, and hard to relate to, but you give
off a relaxed image despite being insecure -
and secretly many people long to be like you,
not knowing how deep the Winter season really
is.

Well done... You're the most inspirational of
seasons :)

Back to werk...

Parents left for India last Saturday for a week's holiday. Until then, all visiting plans are put on hold. My youngest sister will be taking this very opportunity to go Raya visiting with her frens. I won't be surprise if it becomes a daily event. Kihkihkih =)

Came to work at 11am and my buddy Ros is not around. Bummer... Ros will only start work on Wednesday. She got her 2 days' off early in the week. As for me, I'm getting my off days during the weekends!!
