The King

A King is looking for a wise man. He held a contest in search for a wise one. The contest consisted of solving this problem...

"The product of the ages of the King's daughters is 36 and the sum is equal to the number of gates in the royal palace. Determine the age of the princesses."

The most intelligent contestant approached the King after thinking through the problem and said, "Your Highness, I am missing one piece of information."

The King promptly replied "The oldest of my daughters has blue eyes."

The contestant immediately gave the ages of the princesses. What was his answer?

Came across this while reading a fren's blog. I was stumped. Reminded me of The Wicked game that Makcik introduced me to.

Took me half a day and many google searches before I started laughing at my own stupidity. Sheesh... so much for blue eyes!

Keep small torchlight in office drawer

Just a while ago, I went to powder my nose.

Someone decided to conserve the office building's electricity by switching off the ladies' lights & fans. During office hours. For god's sake... not while I'm inside!

Cubicle door closed and the place went pitch black all of a sudden, I thought it was a power failure. Short-circuit perhaps? Closed door = closed lights? I couldn't even see my own hands. Thank goodness I've just entered. Miraculously I made my way out. The switches were off. Switched it on and went in again.

I thought that was the end of it. A glitch. Apparently that someone must have thought a ghost is lurking around. I closed the cubicle door and the place went pitch black again. Without warning, I shouted a loud clear "HOI!"

Right away I saw light! I was more than ready to rush out and direct my bottle of water to whoever was standing at the entrance door. Then I heard a meek "Sorry". I wasn't able to distinguish if it belongs to a male or female. The other party must have gotten a rude shock.

Once is a mistake. Twice... *shakes head*

Malacca / KL trip 88 - part 2 (overdue)

30th April 2006

I was up @ 7.30am. Unbelievable but true. For the sake of not wanting to miss the hotel's breakfast actually. Heehee...

Our extended breakfast lasted till 10.30am. We went back to our rooms and slept till check-out time. Loaded our luggages back into Lancerlot and off we go... SHOPPING.

I didn't shop till drop. But my legs felt jelly-like after getting lost in One Utama. It doesn't help that my mobile line was not functioning despite having applied for autoroam. To make things worse, my mobile went flat. Initially I waited for them at the basement carpark. I assumed that they will be done soon as we were supposed to head back home that night itself.

Then I went up to the information counter. But there was nobody on duty in sight. So I trudged down to the carpark again. Waited and waited and waited...

Finally I went to Giant Supermarket. I bought tidbits to get more coins. Called Umi and was directed to her voicemail. Attempted others but failed. Last resort, I explained my situation to the guy @ the information counter. He loaned his mobile for me to retrieve Mahanom's number from my sim card. Thanked him and dashed to the nearest public phone to call Mahanom.

Phew! They were at Good Evening Bangkok Restaurant.

Dinner was excellent. The service provided was exceptional. It was as if we had waiters exclusively at our table. The fish was finished in record time. The Tom Yam soup was spicy. Makcik was craving for crabs but there was no Black Pepper Crab that night. However the waiter was quick to suggest Black Pepper Crab using the small crabs we found in the soup, if we didn't mind. With a smile and a nod from Makcik, the waiter was gone in a flash.

Past 11pm and we were still in KL. Had Pakcik drove us all back to homeland, we would have arrived most probably 2-3am. Not really a good idea when you have sleepy eyes on the road. Furthermore it's a Public Holiday tomorrow. We could definitely afford to stay one night more.

With such an impromptu decision, we wished and hoped that there were still available hotel rooms. Headed back to the same hotel. Only executive rooms were available. We checked in this time without their complimentary breakfasts.

For us to conduct an urgent meeting or play a round of mahjong perhaps?

All of us checked out @ 9.30am the next day.

Malacca / KL trip 88 - part 1 (overdue)

29th April 2006

Presenting... the F1 racer throughout the trip.

At 1.30pm, I bid farewell to my family & made my way down. Pakcik & Makcik soon arrived in their Lancerlot. Dad had told me earlier that there's a high possibility we would get ourselves stuck in the Checkpoint traffic jam. Alhamdullilah, we didn't encounter any.

We drove to Mahanom's house to fetch her. After that we took a turn and stopped for lunch. Pakcik & Makcik were held up in their earlier appointment this morning. Hence the late start to our holiday 'foodie' trip. By 2.30pm, we were back on the road up to Malacca.

Nothing much happened on the road. Pakcik found a wallet in the gents during our toilet break @ Serenggam R&R. Instead of handing it over to the cleaner, he contacted the owner's father. The young chap was staying around JB. We got stuck in a bit of traffic jam also. Not because of accidents but due to the ongoing roadworks.

Pakcik estimated that we would reached Malacca by 6.30pm. Thanks to those traffic delays, we were already hungry in car.

The seafood in Umbai, Malacca was great. I got the experience of eating seafood dipped in spicy soy sauce with Nasi Lemak. Powerr! I limit myself to only a packet of Nasi Lemak, afraid that I might get full from the rice and not seafood. Given any time, I will still opt for plain rice. Not forgetting the 2 glasses of rose syrup I had ordered solely for me. Heehee...

All drinks are mine? Nah!

Once dinner was over, we were back on the road to KL. We stopped over at the nearest petrol kiosk for another toilet break. First, I accidentally switched off the gents' lights. Upon switching on the ladies' lights, I saw a small frog in the cubicle! Everyone in the car was laughing their heads off when I retreated back to car. But it wasn't long before we got quiet again. Zzz...

When Pakcik stopped in front of the hotel, we quickly unloaded our luggages & headed to the reception. The poor guy nearly got beheaded by Makcik when he told us that they do not have any room reservations under our names! Quickly retrieved the number I had dialled during booking and asked. Hahaha! We were in the wrong hotel.

Back in the car once again. This time when we arrived, Pakcik didn't right away parked his car. He waited for us to check in first. =D

We were upgraded to executive rooms. Even better! Mahanom & I watched James Bond on their Astro channel till 2.30am before we went to slumberland.
